The below companies are small, friendly, honest companies who make or offer services in the backpacking category. They’ve been kind enough to help support my projects.
BackpackingLight.com – Awesome online magazine focused on lightweight backpacking. Very ethically sound company which is something I admire. I had the chance to hike with the founder who lives an interesting minimalist lifestyle.
Zpacks.com – I use a TON of Zpacks gear. I love their tents, sleeping bags, backpacks and stuff sacks, I’d describe them as ultralight, high quality, and reliable. The owners are super friendly and passionate about what they do.
Goosefeetgear.com – Goosefeet gear is hands down the best maker of down parkas. Super high quality for reasonable prices, and the lightest on the market. An awesome guy named Ben runs this company, and ensures each garment is made to the highest standards.
40below.com – When I discovered how well overbooties over trailrunners worked for snow travel, it changed my (winter) life. There’s a reason people climbing Everest use 40below gear. It’s good stuff, made by a friendly honest company.
Lawsonequipment.com – These guys are unique in that they focus on niche items like cordage, tent stakes, etc. They are currently modifying their business model to focus on direct vs OEM sales. They are a small husband and wife shop, so you can feel good about supporting their business.
